Mgr Duarte Nuno Queiroz de Barros da Cunha
Mgr Duarte Nuno Queiroz de Barros da Cunha (1 June 1968) was ordained priest for the Patriarchate of Lisbon in 1993. He studied Theology and Pastoral Studies at the Catholic University of Portugal, where from 2000-2004 he was Professor of Catholic Social Doctrine.
He gained a Licentiate in Theology from Rome’s Pontifical Gregorian University and a Doctorate in Theology with a thesis on "Friendship in the work of St Thomas Aquinas". In Lisbon he worked as General Secretary to the Patriarch of Lisbon (1997-2000) and Assistant in the Office for the Family (1997-2007). From 1998-2000 he was parish priest in the parish of São Vicente di Fora, and from 2000-2008 in the parish of Alto Lumiar.
In 1998, along with some friends and collaborators, he founded the "Ponto de Apoio à Vida" Association to help and support pregnant women in difficult situations. From 2002-2008 he was the President of the Association. In 2002 he established the Institute of Family Sciences within the Catholic University of Portugal, where he still does some collaboration. He has published a number of works in theology and family issues. He has been CCEE Secretary General since 2008, re-elected in 2013. He speaks Portuguese, Italian, English, Spanish and French.
