The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Hungary

The Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (MKPK) has 21 members: all the diocesian bishops and those who legally have the same status, the Military Ordinary, the Benedictine Abbot of Pannonhalma as a territorial abbot, the apostolic administrators, the diocesian governors, the coadjutors, the auxiliaries as well as the titular bishops.

The task of the Conference is to analyze, discuss and occasionally control the common pastoral duties of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops of both the Latin and the Byzantine rites in accordance with Canon Law, and to co-ordinate the work of the Church. The Conference is represented by its President. The Conferece meets as required at regular intervals, but generally four times a year. The Apostolic Nuncio is invited to Conference sessions.
