Vice-General Secretary and Spokesperson

Fr. Antonio Ammirati

Born on 19 May 1974, he was ordained a Priest on 17 April 1999 for the Archdiocese of Crotone – Santa Severina in Calabria (Italy). Previously the General Secretary of the Diocesan Curia, he is also a director, publicist, journalist and television author.

From 2002 to 2014 he worked at the National Office of Social Communications for the Italian Bishops’ Conference, in particular within the television management sector and as director of transmissions of the Sunday Holy Mass on RaiUno. He was a consultant of TG1 for the direction of Papal celebrations and a consultant of the religious programmes of Rai. 

He has worked in international cooperation as coordinator of the CEI Charitable Interventive Service in aid of the third world.

He is a member of the Administration Council of the Communication and Culture Foundation of the CEI, and Secretary of the Administration Council of the Foundation Body for Entertainment.

He is an editorial consultant, author and director at the Catholic broadcaster TV2000 which also follows the events presided over by the Pope in collaboration with Vatican Media.

On 17 September 2018 he was nominated as Vice-General Secretary and Spokesperson of the CCEE. He speaks French, English and Italian (mother tongue).
