With gratitude to the Lord for the life of the Holy Father, CCEE joins the whole Church in mourning the death of His Holiness Pope Francis, which occurred on the morning of 21 April 2025.
With deep sorrow, CCEE raises its prayers to the risen Lord Jesus to receive Pope Francis into the glory of heaven, together with the Virgin Mary and all the saints.
Cardinal Farrell announced the death of Pope Francis with these words:
“Dear brothers and sisters, it is with deep sorrow that I have to announce the death of our Holy Father Francis.
At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His whole life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and his Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage and universal love, especially towards the poorest and most marginalised. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the Triune God.”
