Religious Education

Religious Education in schools - Catholic and State-owned - represents a very important item in the mission of the Church and in building a stronger European multiculturality. It is important not only to guarantee information about religions, but that children and young people can receive a confessional education in line with the convictions of their parents.

The CCEE Commission Catechesis, School and University deals also with this topic as part of school pastoral care. In 2008 a European report drafted by a network of national experts was published and presented to the European Council in Strasbourg.

Below you will find a collection of documents and news releases relating to a Research on the teaching of Catholic religion in Europe, promoted by CCEE in 2009.
