Fr. Martin Michalíček
Born on 18 August 1974, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Nitra (Slovakia) in 1999. He completed studies in philosophy and theology in Nitra at the University of Comenio in 1999, studying also at the University of Salzburg from 1993 until 1995.
In 2005 he achieved a license in Catechetics at the Pontifical Salesian University of Rome and, following that, a Doctorate in Catechetics at the University of Comenio in Bratislava (2008).
From 2007 to 2017 he taught at the Nitra Major Seminary (Slovakia); from 2008 to 2017 he was the Director of the Catechetical Office of the Diocese of Nitra and from 2015 to 2017 he was the Moderator of the Episcopal Curia of Nitra. In January 2018 he was nominated as Vice-General Secretary of the CCEE and consequently elected General Secretary on 14 September 2018 at the CCEE Plenary Assembly in Poznan.
He speaks German, Italian, English and Slovakian (mother tongue).
